Paul

Paul

is Daphne's frontman, guitarist and lead vocalist. Now living in worthing, he's originally from leicester where he played solo, in local bands and busked.  Paul is a big fan of the Beatles, AC/DC and a whole host of Indie bands.  A regular festival go-er and mad effects pedal scientist.

Paul plays Gretsch and Roberts guitars through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe.

Paul’s vocal prowess is more than you would expect from your average singer in a band. Paul has a huge vocal range and very powerful voice – a serious vocalist who warms up and avoids caffeine before gigs – like all proper vocalists do.

Denis

Denis is Daphne's bass player with a good line in vocal harmonies although he does sing lead on a few of the band's numbers.  A Glaswegian by birth, but has spent the last 30 years or so in West Sussex.  Denis is mad about The Stranglers so inevitably plays an ever changing range of Fender Precision bass guitars (usually in black) but can also be seen playing Jazz basses, Steinbergers and semi-acoustics here and there.

Denis has a strong and punchy bass sound which sits high in the Daphne Don’t Float mix. If you come to a Daphne gig, one thing we can promise you is that you will hear the bass loud and clear.

About

ABOUT THE

BAND

Daphne Don’t Float are a 3-piece pop and rock covers band playing an infectious brand of “bare-knuckle” pop music with incredible energy and powerful vocal harmonies.

Daphne Don’t Float is one of the freshest acts on the scene. If you’re tired of hearing pub bands playing the same old songs, then they’re the band for you.

....... and why are we called "Daphne"?

It’s really difficult to come up with a band name. Finding one that nobody else has ever used is even more tricky. You also need to pick a name which describes the feel of the band.

We met an attractive lady of a certain age at one of our gigs recently who was worried that we had come up with the name while accidentally drowning a family pet. That was kinda cool, but not true.

What really happened was ……….one day, while mulling over the band name issue, we were talking to an ex band mate who was describing a family barbeque he’d just been to. His niece had dolls of the whole cast of Scooby Doo and threw them all in the paddling pool. They all floated on the top – apart from one. She pointed and shouted to uncle – “look, Daphne Don’t Float”. And so, thanks to the Lord and poor standards of education, a band name was born.
